Notice. There have been a few changes that had to happen in the store, all effective for orders placed today and onwards. We're very very sorry for the inconvinience.

1) Minimum order of $15.
This is due to a diminishing lack of spare time on my part due to work constraints, and it takes the same amount of time and effort to package 1lb of pellets versus 10lbs of pellets.

2) Price increases
Whether it's due to the winter season, or a permanent mass increase, many of our suppliers have increased their prices, and thus so must we. We are still only a fraction of what pet stores charge, even after shipping :)

NOTE: I'm increasing the savings range on bulk products. However, this shouldn't encourage you to get more than you need. Pellets do go stale, and bales of hay do stink up a house. By all means get a bit more than you need to save on shipping, but if you end up throwing over half a 50lb bag of pellets away, then you're not really saving any money by buying bulk afterall.

3) Chains and Chollas
- As you may have noticed, our chew chains have changed to sisal. They're now more affordable, and the sisal rope itself offers an extra chew toy bonus.
- Chollas are nearly impossible to come by in canada now, so the chains and variety packs will have a decreased number of them until they are gone. We've added larger wheel-like cuts of wood to the toys to take their place.

awww but Nat I only wanted 1.48372 pounds of pellets....what do I do now *gasp* lol just kidding :P

Understandable, prices always go up. $15 isn't much for an order, shouldn't be too hard. Still worth it all, still the best stuff :D

4) Stock Shrinking: We've been culling some products that are either a) too hard to find at a better price than Walmart (shavings, water bottles), and b) impossible to get in the winter (wood chew toys). We're hoping that "b" will resolve itself come spring.

I know pine is readily available. However, I didn't check the prices on Aspen shavings at WMT (do they even have aspen?) but I noticed that the pricing for Aspen is very expensive at Petsmart. Do you think u could get a better price on Aspen at your store?

Thanks

Nah walmart doesn't carry aspen, but you can find it at Ren's, which is in Mississauga. I think you could find it elsewhere, but I'm not too sure. You can find their number here:

Keep in mind, a small pet store will have much higher prices than anywhere else. There are lots of places to buy bulk'ish supplies besides pet stores. Maybe not so much downtown toronto though, lol.

Well I did find some at Flowertown, but your place is closer for me. :) Missisauga is way too west for me as well. That's ok. Just wondering. Thanks though. :)

Sorry guys, we had to kill the store scripts, they were getting heavily hijacked by spam bots and I couldn't keep up.

Also, the store is now split between mine and vanessa's products. we just live too far away from eachother to make transfers viable any more.

Doh on the change to the pellets (saw the price went up again!). But nifty idea on splitting the stores up!

yeah since nothing is calculating it for me anymore, i needed to simplify the prices.

we make no secret of where we get our supplies though. check here for alternatives:
http://www.ontariochinchillas.ca/products.php

honestly, i want chinchillas to get good products. i'm sad that i can't supply them, i actually would LOVE it if someone reliable and honest within GTA would take over my supplies, I'd go and pick up from them and become a customer! That's why we started this, because that didn't really exist. I can't keep up with demand much longer with my real jobs though. I'm open to advising anyone with plenty of time on their hands and lots of store room.

I've actually thought about contacting them to be a reseller in the Ottawa region before (our chat the one night of "if you can find a way so I don't have to ship it out *LOL*" conversation heheh), but I'm sure shipping would just be incredulous.

Love getting stuff from you, but with gas prices going up, I know shipping is just going to go up and up moreso too.

yeah never look at shipping alone. add it all together and look at what it's costing you per pound, then calculate what pet stores or any other alternatives cost. odds are it's still ridiculously cheaper.

Found out for the Mazuri locally, it would be cheaper than the Riedstra's (it's slightly under $1/lb here), and even moreso since no shipping charges.

I still wubs ya, I do, I do! (But my husband is ready to kill me on all-things-chinchilla-shipped! )
